wee woolies of late

Knitting and crocheting for my own and friends’ impending wee people. In summer it’s so lovely to imagine the cooler weather these will be worn during.

The first is an Angel Wings Pinafore by Maxine Gonser. Though I can’t read or watch a movie while doing crochet (can anyone?) this was so surprisingly fun to do, and lightning fast. Our little boy vests have been the most worn knits in our house, and I think of this as the lady version of that.

The little oatmeal vest is a test knit of the Trane Vest for Little Woolens. Made from Quince & Co. Owl, which is a tweedy dream–I just smell the pipe smoke and old books. The hat is another one of my most addictive favorites lately: the Crystal Palace Pixie Hat. So far I’ve made three of these ridiculously easy and adorable hats. It has an attached i-cord around the back, which is the best idea for keeping it on a wiggly little head.

Knitting for tiny people is the most satisfying craft I’ve done. After seeing my own son wrapped up in woolies and imagining our soon-to-be daughter in hers is wonderful. There will be more baby crafts to come here in this spot soon. What are you working on?

“Look, here is a tree in the garden and every summer is produces apples, and we call it an apple tree because the tree “apples.” That’s what it does. Alright, now here is a solar system inside a galaxy, and one of the peculiarities of this solar system is that at least on the planet earth, the thing peoples! In just the same way that an apple tree apples!”
